Blackwater Wildlife Refuge is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, near Cambridge. We visited on October 12th. It wasn't a nice day and the sky wasn't pretty, but it was a great experience and we really enjoyed the birds and the scenery. The refuge is home to 200 species of birds in the winter, and is home to the 2nd largest population of bald eagles on the eastern seaboard. We saw 10 eagles while we were there. I couldn't get close enough for a decent photograph; I need way more lens for that. I would like to visit again in the winter and see what it has to offer.
